Help me to switch on!
« on: 13 Jan 2006, 05:29 am »
Being basically a lazy sod - it irks me to have to bend down and switch on and off my two 7B SST amps every day. :(

I have the TAG AV32 DP processor as the front end and it does not have any 12 volt outlets to allow me to do this.

Is there any other way that I can use my processor to switch the amps out of standby and back into standby?

I thought there may be some voltage coming out of the "TAPE OUT" rca sockets that may work.

Any ideas??

Dear Caleb,

Better don't use the tape out's for this. It is still a line driver. I don't know how he will handle the circuit of the Bryston triggers.

If you really want to switch the Bryston's with your Tag, You can search for a voltage inside the Tag. Be sure you have the electronical skills to do this. If you doubt don't do anything!... It is not that hard to find a DC voltage between +5 and +12 volt. I prefer a voltage before it enters a voltage regulator. For safity put a fuse of 100mA fast in serial with this voltage. In case you make any shortcut, you will spare your Tag.

Make sure this voltage is not present when you switch your tag on standby. You have to messure this.

Good luck,
Bas

If the TAG has a switched power recepticle, buy a 12vdc wall wart (WW) and let the pre-pro switch the power to the WW. Attach the WW output to the trigger ins on the amps. Works great for my system using my old Sony ES pre-pro.
