I have a Onix xcd-88 with the opa627 op amps. I have upgraded the diodes capacitors and replaced 10 of the resistors with the Riken ohms. The opa627 did make the player more enjoyable-so I continued with the other upgrades. I now have a very detailed CD player that is fantastic with excellent recordings. The problem is that most of my older Cd's are very fatiguing to listen to. I hear that a tubed CD player might let me enjoy all my music again.
Anybody that owns or has owned any of these players or alternatives ..I would like to hear your opinions and where you purchased them.

Also most of the Chinese units are 230 volts...live in the  USA. Is there any downfalls with using a step-up converter?

My setup is as follows:
Nad 773 receiver pre-amp+rear speakers
Rotel 1075 amp for Bi-amping my front speakers and center channel
B&W 602 s3"s
Rocket UFW-10 sub
Bh labs silversonic interconnects for all connections

I would also take a look at the Ah! Tjoeb CD player or adding a Scott Nixon tube dac to your existing Onix player.
