I need to have the left and right signal grounds independent from the cart to my line stage. Would this be a simple matter of cutting the ground plane (bottom layer of the PCB) down the middle and isolating the earth ground terminal?.

I do use the external PS, but do not join the PS and signal grounds. Would the PS require modifications as well?

Randall,

No, it is not possible.  The opamps are dual and shared between channels, thus tying together channel supplies and grounds.

I am not aware of any phono stage that runs completely separate supplies and grounds.  Except for mono units.
