Anyone done with their punches for Cornet II chasis?

Hello! I am almost done soldering my kit together and have to start my chasis work. Does anyone have the 1 1/8" and 1 3/8" punches for sale or loan? I thought I would check before I plunk down some serious cash for 4 holes. Any help or advice would be much appreciated! Peace. Robert

Most good rental yards rent punches this size as they are the common sizes used by electricians for 3/4 and 1 inch conduit. If there is nothing in your area, call an electrical contractor and he may be willing to help you.

I've had pretty good results using bi-metal hole saws to cut aluminium. Not quite as clean as a Greenlee punch but you can buy a set of these at Orange Depot for about $25.00 (IIRC). If you can rent them that would be the way to go with the hole saws being a secondary option.

If you end up using the holesaw, I suggest covering the sheet metal with masking tape first. Sometimes the chips spinning around with the saw will leave circular scratches on the finish.
