Got this stuff as a "freebie" with another purchase.  It's a bluish - green gel that you buff onto the data side of a CD.  It does indeed come with a special black marker to mark the edge and inner circle of the CD with.  I was most skeptical, but figured, what the hell?  I applied it to a CD I know very well, as per the instructions, and even blackened the edge and inner ring with the special pen.  Damned if I don't hear some kind of difference - it sounds better, but I can't quite place it.  Darker background maybe, a little more presence maybe, something is different in the favourable direction.  Anybody else try this stuff?

I use it and I agree that there is a differene.  Like you, I can't quit place it though.  A little more transparent, or clearer picture of the room and acoustics.  I'm not sure, but I use it.  I didn't get it free, but I got it cheap.

It is also great for removing fingerprints from the kids DVD's.  No fingerprints on Dad's CD's as the kids know a quick and immediate death is their punishment for touching anything in, on or around the stereo.

I also use this magic blue goo. Like others, I can't quite put my finger on what change it makes; possibly slightly more clearity and definition, albeit sublte. But, add up all the tiny improvements... and things are bound to sound better.
