Anyone have comments on this unit, is it the same as the origianl but better housing and connectors? Selling at PE for $140 delivered.

Sounds like Super T just begs to be used with upgraded PS, perhaps some Astron Linear PS we use with the origianl T-amp, or some huge 12V SLA battery.  Wish it was more like $50-60 :)

I'll probably order one to see what I can do upgrading it. Looks like the enclosure is big enough to fit an SLA battery inside too.

Search around there is a lot of information on these amplifiers. Red Wine even sells a modified version (for a fat chunk of change).

I would probably start with a regular not super model, the one that is like under thirty.

No doubt there is tons of info on the original...but not a whole lot of info on this new model.  It does look like its more user friendly in terms of modifications, though.

That is the funny thing... It already has most of the normal upgrades.

Why not save a hundred dollars for... A better pot, MUCH better 13v power supply, better binding posts, and a nicer chassis. With the expensive one you can upgrade the connections, pot, and powersupply after you just paid an extra hundred for them.

Couple this thing to a wireless network with Squeeze Boxes and you'd have the start for one heck of a good quality, small, inexpensive 2nd system.

Gee, I'm imaging replacing my old stereo receiver, CDP, and CD storage cabinet/rack with this tiny setup.

I already have a pretty highly modded Clari-T, it's an awesome amp and this would just be for fooling around with and learing to do some mods. The enclosure on the Super T amp is the reason I'd go with it over the cheap one, I'd rather pay the money for it and have something that's solid and decent looking rather than a hokey plastic box. And yeah you can buy a metal project box for less than $100 but it's still going to look awful.

I agree with you.  This is about the nicest-looking enclosure I've seen for a Tripath amp, ever.  The RCA and speaker posts are "good enough" that I wouldn't change them myself.

What's nice is Super-T already comes with a DC jack and included cable with DC jack plug and connectors for a battery.  Just get a big, honking SLA battery and hook it up.

Just about the only mods I would 'want' is to bypass the volume pot completely.  No need for getting expensive stepped attentuators, etc, as I can control volume elsewhere, and bypassed pot sounds better than any vol control.  The other mod is to replace the electrolytics with nice film cap for input caps.  There's plenty of space inside for something like V-Cap OIMP or Mundorf caps.

Perhaps one of us should talk to Vinnie:) Without a need to get a new chassis and no need to provide an internal SLA battery, the mods on the new Super-T should be much lower in cost..

Well I have no desire to pay for the extra crap cables etc..... I agree the chassis is cute, but with a hole in the front not as cute. Also I was thinking a nice wooden and aluminium, or just wood from the outside, box.

You could always buy the super expensive project super T amp box...
