Connecting AVA DAC to DVD Player in separate system
« on: 23 Dec 2005, 04:36 am »
I have a surround sound/home theater system that I keep completely independent of my stereo system. The stereo system is mostly AVA components.

I am considering the AVA DAC to replace my aging CD player. I would want to connect it to my CD/DVD player (Denon DVD1600) which is part of the home theater system. It has an optical digital output that is already connected to the home theater receiver.

I think what will work is to find an optical splitter and run one side to the optical-to-coax converter AVA recommends, then to the DAC. Then I could use the DVD player in both systems.

Does anyone see any issues with this setup? Any recommendations on an optical splitter?

TIA

I am sorry to report that I have no information on an optical signal splitter and if it can work properly or not.

I hope somebody else here can make a recommendation.

They sell a splitter for $10.
