I've been reading up on what everyone around here uses to clean contacts - and have my own novel idea.
E-wipes. These are little lint free Methonal wipes I use at work to clean delicate, expensive optics. They come in a small pouch with one wipe in each pouch. These things rule!
Never in all my lens, CCD and scanner cleaning days have I found a product that leaves NO residue. The e-wipes leave nothing, nada, nyet. Just clean glass. So why not audio connectors? I tried 'em they work great.
Dirty contacts are such a huge problem in audio, that it seems that getting a really clean contact with no residue would be a good start. No dirt, oil or gunk to go bad over time and ruin that signal path.
E-wipes are made by Photographic Solutons, Inc.
http://www.photosol.com/ewipeproduct.htmI also use their film cleaner and wipes. Great stuff!
Now for corroded contacts, nothing beats Caig products, they have saved the day many times for me. But I might now follow up with e-wipes.
Thought you should check 'em out.
