Driver placement on LCR
« on: 14 Dec 2005, 07:57 am »
I am just curious if there is any leniency in driver placement on the LCR. For example would it be possible to allow an extra inch or so between the extremis and the wr's without causing problems?

Any change in driver position will affect the frequency response.  The driver layout and crossovers are designed with each other in mind so changing driver position is not recommended.

As Kyle says, you will affect the response.  On-axis response won't change much at all - if you move BOTH Extremis the same amount - but the off-axis will suffer, with deeper nulls happening at a lower frequency.

Any reason why you want to move them out?

There are a lot of things you can change with little affect but the driver location on the baffle isn't one of them.  ;-)

That was the answer I was expecting but wanted to ask the experts to be sure. There is quite a bit of real estate to the left and right of the extremis on the baffle and I was going to slide them out a bit if the changes weren't to drastic.
