Frequency spectrum for instrument?

I am curious what frequency range all instruments play in. My little Tangbands are great and all but I must be missing the frequency range where a kick bass operates or some thing.... I never hear it on some CDs.

http://www.psbspeakers.com/audioTopics.php?fpId=8&page_num=1&start=0 - no harmonics listed

http://www.tnt-audio.com/topics/frequency_e.html - ditto

Cymbals put out energy right up past 100kHz, if I remember; Some instruments (clarinet) put out virtually nothing above 20kHz but most instruments have harmonics that do. Music generally gets down to about 30Hz and some unusual pieces get down to 16Hz or so. Movies go as low as 8Hz.

Get a computer tone generator, like NCH, and make a CD with a range of frequencies on it. It makes a reasonable and cheap way to se if you aren't getting high or low frequencies.

Keep in mind once you get past 15, 16khz, you won't be hearing much whether your speakers can do it or not.

Thank you! That really helped give me an idea where my speakers are lacking. Clearly I need a subwoofer for under hm say 80hz, that must be about where I lack the kick bass drum and a few other things I have been missing.

Those are great links.  I wonder if any links are available for electrical instruments (rock) and corresponding harmonics (I forgot how to calculate them   ).
