I have modified stock Grado cartridges with the Longhorn mod and I'd say it's as good or better than most cartridges, no matter what the price.

I've been using them exclusively for about 20 years.  I noticed the difference right away  :o .  I can't compare them to $500 cartridges, because I don't think I've ever heard one.  But the Longhorn seems to abolish a lot of the problems that normally go with LP playback.  I will say that records with well-recorded bass drums are bad for heart patients when played with a Longhorn. :D
