I recently did the CCS upgrade in my Cornet Classic and also replaced C5 with Vcaps (wow!).

I'm having fun with this, so now I'm wondering if I should replace the Hammond 270BX with the 370BX.

Is this a significant, obviously audible upgrade?

Is it difficult?

I upgraded to the 370BX after my 270BX melted-down!  Glad I had a fuse on the A/C mains when the old tranny died.

It is not a difficult installation, in fact it's exactly the same, you just have a few unused leads to tie off.

But what is the sonic difference?

I'm also potentially interested in this swap, but for a different reason. My Coronet buzzes and I've been told that it could be due to higher voltages than the 270 is rated for. I could install a resistor to drop them down, ot swap it out for th 370.

If there's a sonic improvement with the 370 then my decision is obviously easier.

Enjoy,
Bob

Due to lack of response regarding the question of a sonic difference between the two, I'll assume there is none and spend the money on records.

I guess if it ain't broke I shouldn't fix it.
