Will Behringer 2496 tame horn loaded speakers?

I have a pair of backloaded horns with Fostex Sigma 208. These have great sensitivity and fine nuance with mids, but after a period of time, I become fatigued with the midrange shout, or shall I say hump?

Some people have tried passive correcton circuits in the speaker binder end....but I wonder if the Behringer 2496 can actually tame the midrange output, making it sound a little bit more even across the range of the driver, as the DEQ can actually equalize the frequency response of the listening space. Any experiences with equalization with the Behringer would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't measured your in room response you should. Swings in amplitude of plus or minus 15 db is average and more is easily possible. After inserting the Deq 2496 into my system the improvement has been what I consider major and certainly easily audible. My room btw is a dedicated room LEDE with bass traps. For the 300 including a microphone I consider this piece to be the tweak of the decade. IF it is a hump in your response causing this sound then yes the Behringer can go a long way toward correcting it.

My systems are quite different than yours, but I have used the Behringer in two different systems in different rooms with excellent results (I liked it so much in the first system that I bought another). The built-in DAC is not bad, but I do prefer it in strictly digital mode with an external DAC. To the extent the issue is in-room frequency response, I think there's an excellent chance the Behringer will help you out.

I third the recommendation. The deq is quite useful for taming midrange peaks.
(buy the microphone and a long cord while you're there.)

Interestingly, I've recently purchased both the Behringer DEQ2496 and the Behringer CX3400 SuperX Crossover. The DEQ and cables haven't arrived yet, but I noticed that the CX3400 has a CD Horn compensation circuit built in, which is supposed to help tame constant directivity horns w/o adding phase shift of any sort. Since I don't have horns, I'm not sure how effective it would be, but I'd be willing to guess that room equalization combined with a circuit of this type wouldn't hurt.
