Anyone using Behringer XOs?

I'm interested in using either the CX2310 or CX3400 to allow me to inexpensively run a line level to my sub without having to run line level signal through the RCA pass through on my sub. I'm trying to avoid running pass through on my sub to my mains amp because I can't tell if there is an active stage, but there's definately a noticable loss in mid/high detail when it's connected this way.
Also interested in reducing IMD from my speakers by running my mains 40Hz high pass.

Note: I'll be using a balanced XLR connection to the input on it from my preamp, not a gender bender.

Thanks!

I'm using a Behringer CX3400 to biamp my Magnepans. It's certainly very easy to use and flexible in your ability to quickly adjust crossover points. I like the ability to invert the phase of both the outputs which comes in handy with the way Maggies are wired. OTOH, I've found it adds a bit of brightness to the sound that I could live without.

As you say, I too was looking for an inexpensive way to actively crossover my speakers and the Behringer certainly gets the job done. But you get what you pay for in the sound. I'm only using it temorarily until I find a better unit.

Steve K:

Thanks for replying. I've spoken with a few others concerning the Behringer XOs and this seems to be the general consensus (the addition of brightness, that is).

Do you believe that the XO is preventing your system from retrieving all the low level detail/nuances? Or is it just a tonal change you mentioned above?
How about noise? Does it introduce any into your system?

No loss of detail that I can hear. In fact, the detail retrieval is better than the vintage Pioneer D-23 crossover I was borrowing from a friend. There are more nuances to attacks and transients with the Behringer. I wouldn't say that it adds any noise to the signal either. There just seems to be a tipped up emphasis at the high frequency extreme that adds a tinge of brightness to the sound that Maggie ribbons tend to reveal all too well.
