The Usher D2s are finally here. WOW! What a pain in the butt to unpack these 1200 lb speakers. Below are some pictures as set up in our NY showroom.
I will let you know how they sound as soon as DHL finds the other crossover :cuss:

A nice feature of these is that you can pack your Usher 520s in the mouth of the horns when it's time to move, so you can throw out the boxes for the 520s and save some room in the meantime.

Holy moley!

Hey now. Careful, those are ports that meant to allow air to come out of them.

And you have no reason to be. Completely different product with a completely different type of customer.

I am anything but conventional. I have quite a few products that are either unique or exclusive. At the very least, they are not on every corner. Over the next several weeks, our NY facility will have many very nice products including the Usher D2, Daedalus DA-1, Bella I and II, and some SP Tech speakers.
I believe in having enough product to cover the wide range of consumer's preferences. You will never hear me say I like one over the other. They all have their place and reasoning in the market!!!

Is there a matching center channel?
How about making a pair available for an AC audition tour?

Funny thing, I have actually had a serious customer as me to design and build a matching center. With the dispersion of these horns, I really don't think a center channel is needed...... or a subwoofer. I measured 24 Hz in my room.

You DO NOT want to have to take these down after only a few days.

I am considering taking them aprt to rearrange the modules so that the ports are on the very top and bottom. This will allow the bass drivers to be closer to the horn for more of a point source. Anybody want to come over and help??

By the way, the other crossover arrived Friday afternoon about an hour before I had to leave.
I did have to go to work for a spell on Saturday to work on finishing the baffles of my personal Bella/SP's and did listen to the D2s for several hours. How do they sound? Well......................

Yeah man!! How they sound? Musical or just beautiful sound. Are they directive as other horn speakers? Let us know.
