SD-4960 Popping
« on: 17 Nov 2005, 03:58 pm »
Just got back my RX-F10 from the shop.  Apparently there were some bad solder connections on the board and the there was no digital.  Now low and behold I am noticing some popping on my SD-4960 when accessing from track to track from remote or the front of the unit.  I am even noticing it when playing CD's all the way through right before each track change.

I thought I had heard someone say awhile back that they were having a similar problem with their Samsung.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Apparently the popping was being generated from my RX-F10 not the SD-4960. It seems that when the RX-F10 was out being repaired the Digital Decoding Setting on the remote got changed and that's what was generating the noise.

I'll tell you it's always something!!  Problem solved!  Next..... :D

Well I thought I had the problem solved but was somewhat premature in my declaration.  I am using my digital for DTS audio discs and I have been listening to alot of my redbook cd's through the digital as well.  I was able to get rid of the popping by decoding to Digital DTS through the JVC.  However, when I go back to redbook and Digital Auto through the JVC I still get the popping right before a track begins and subsequently throughout the entire disc before each track.

The degree of popping varies sometimes much louder than others.  I am somewhat worried about my tweeters and how it might affect them.  I can't figure this out whether this is the Toshiba or the JVC.  Settings???  I might just disconnect it all and throw it out into the snow!!!!   :?
