Any chance of some specs though -- output vrms and impedence?
Would also like to hear if either optical or coax sounds the best...

Output level is 2.25vRMS (4.5v balanced), output impedance 750 ohms.
We hope to be shipping on December 15th.

The VAC•1 you pictured in the photo at the top of this thread is shown with a new faceplate that matches those of your newer models (e.g. D•100, VDA•2), which have a shiny plastic "CIAUDIO" emblem instead a silkscreened/printed emblem. Does the recent production of the VAC•1 have a new faceplate so that it will match the VDA•2?

Yes, all products now have the new look.
The website will be updated soon with new photos. For now, you can see them by downloading the full-line product brochure.

Most manufacturers choose not to make their products HDCD compatible because the filter degrades the performance of standard redbook CDs.
HDCD discs can be played thru VDA-2, but will be treated as standard redbook.

Do you mind expounding upon your output stage in this DAC? I am very intrigued, can't believe this is the first time I am noticing this. Does it use feedback? Class A? What type of transistor?

I am just one of those that gets more excited when I know what is going on.

It's a Zero Feedback, Class A design...I won't go into specifics though.

Thanks....that is about all I was after...well that and maybe it you used bipolars, mosfets or jfets.

Very intriguing design and looks like it could be a serious killer dac.
