Just finished not-seeing Weblog entry on www.hagtech.com.
Saw it there yesterday.  I know it was getting 'scaled back' but 'sigh' at its oblivion.  I had enjoyed the reading.
If it is gone then, I certainly have to thank you, Jim, for the peeks inside your head that you shared.  And certainly wish you the best on new directions being taken to find better profits in your skills than selling and designing 'half-kits' alone might offer.
If I'm mistaken, just slap me....

Regards,

Yeah, I pulled the link.  Blog is still there, but I'll probably pull that soon too.  Discovering how nice it is not to have to write that thing every day.

Mostly, I realized I was giving away too many secrets.  I just can't keep my mouth shut.  Got so many way cool new ideas and innovations for the HagLabs products, and they were starting to bust out.  I really have to keep it under wraps.  Best I hit the market with a timing advantage.  Ok, one last tip - the faceplate will be titanium color - but that's not anything new.

The blog was a good insight into the every day trials of running a small audio company.  Glad you enjoyed reading it!  I might archive it as one long post.

Indeed it is, though I doubt Dynaco ever found a baby mongoose in their Philadelphia parking lot.

This caught my eye:

So who is www.prodigy-pro.com ?

That link is Prodigy-Pro, a retailer of Pro-Audio boxes. A couple entrepreneurial enthusiasts, some order-clerks, and a warehouse.

You won't find it from the retail web-store, but there is a hidden forum www.prodigy-pro.com/forum on the company's server.

...they have a forum ..., looks like pro recording and guitar related stuff.

We can't keep guitarists out, but more DIY recording devices. Lot of mike preamps, EQ, limiters, some mixing, some DIY mikes. "DIY" ranging from re-packing console strips as individual mikeamps (yawn) to copying the best (and worst) of the past, to new designs and home-made ribbons. Mostly not "your sort of stuff", but you might find it interesting.

Somebody mentioned a Bugle, that's where the hits came from.

A few more tonight: I mentioned the iRIAA. The guy has big hum problem now, but I suspect he is going to need to check the RIAA curve on his modified Steve Bench design phono preamp. Having checked RIAA by hand with calibrated attenuators and a slide-rule, I assured him he needed an iRIAA.

That's a shame. I just ran across the blog and it's really interesting. But I can understand how it could become a monkey on your back. :-)

I think I'll end up moving to an update maybe every other week.  I like doing it, but it was a monkey.  WebLog link is back on home page, and I compiled the whole thing into one file.

Will have update soon, as the TDA1543's I ordered from overseas finally showed up (lost in mail for over a month)!  Report out on JIMDAC soon.

Meanwhile, I've been spending a lot of time pondering the HAGLABs product line.  Going in circles, trying to break new ground (they will).  Thinking the way cool two button remote control (not what you think) pushes the envelope too far.  Need to get the front panel controls of machines to work just like the controls on the remote.  Designing the product architecture with features you will like.  Good stuff I shouldn't be posting in a blog.

I've recovered from the grind of daily blogging.  And now making posts once or twice a week.  Depends on how much exciting stuff happens.  Sometimes I have nothing to say.  Anyway, broke the file up into years, new file is:

How 'bout a tube headphone amp? I am sure a lot of vinyl-heads want to listen thru tubes on their Grado's - I do.

Tube headphone amps are stately and beutiful.

There is also fertile marketing to be had as well. A whole new bunch of boards will be talking about the hagtech tube headphone amp.

I see the "Hagtech Headphone Amp" on the cover of Stereophile.

Take the hint, man.

Yeah, I get a lot of these requests.  Better put it back on the burner.  The Cymbal was originally to be a headphone amp...

Meanwhile, maybe a SEX amp from Bottlehead will do the trick?  Or a SinglePowerAudio?

I like the half-kit for reasons which you have pointed out yourself.

meanwhile, I think I will build a cheapo choy amp and patiently wait for you to come around. :o
