I really like two songs on the album, Cochise and Like a Stone. Like a Stone is basically a Soundgarden song with a cool bass line and funky effects on the lead and Cochise is also a Soundgarden/Zeplin type song. I think I've listened to too much Nora Jones and Diana Krall and needed a break. This is music I like to crank up. The song "Like a Stone" is as good as anything from Soundgarden.
It sucks that I sold my amp, I picked up the tabs for the album and it's not the same on acoustic or without effects. I have a headphone amp but like the sound of loud guitar without the pesky hearing loss potential a headphone guitar amp seems to pose. Anyway, I can't say I disagree with you. Think I'll break out my old Rage and Soundgarden albums. I love Badmotherfinger and Battle of LA from Rage (Commie Rock but very high energy stuff and innovative).
I wasn't expecting much and read some negative reviews of this album. Was disappointed by the Zwan record. I love Billie and the Pumpkins but Zwan didn't do much for me. Maybe I need to give it more time.
If Audioslave stays together, the second record should be much more innovative. I usually HATE supergroups, with the exception of Blind Faith, but this band seems to have the tools to put something cool together. I'll probably see them at Lolapoluza this July in Chicago.
