Wadia 302 vs Cary 303/300
« on: 9 Nov 2005, 08:10 pm »
Hi all,
I am looking for a CDP with variable volume control. Between 302 & Cary 303/300, which one is more suited for direct output to power amp?
Also are their built on par? how about performance?
please also recommend other CDP (with volume control) at this price ($4k) that i should consider too.

Listen mostly to vocal, light jazz, and smooth music. not fan of complicated music.

Thank you.

I own the Wadia 301 which is the model before the 302, but i dont think there is that much of an upgrade to the 302 except for the transport (I could be wrong),
I traded in my Cary 302/200 for the Wadia so I definitly thought the Wadia was better, but were talking about a diferent Cary player,  so i dont know how much help i am to you. Try to get them home for a shoot out. I love my Wadia though, it has a natural organic sound to it with a large sound stage.
Good luck

The Cary 303/300 has direct control to an amp. This is also a much improved player compared to the earlier Cary player. Plus you can play in tube mode or solid state and has nice upsampling features. You will not be disappointed. Every thing will just sound better with better midrange.

I am giving a demo Monday with VMPS Ribbon speakers. I have the new Cary 306a amp(1,100 watt in 4 ohm) coming Thursday ,to bad it did not come earlier...... :?
