USB 1.1 or USB 2.0

I can get an older laptop (free) w/ more than adequate resources to run SlimServer. I was going to attach a USB connected HDD to store a larger volume of music but I am concerned that the transfer speed for its older USB 1.1 port might cause a bottleneck.
Can anyone tell me if there is enough buffering in Slim Server to eliminate this worry.

You can probably get a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card for the laptop with much better transfer speeds. (or firewire)
I haven't tried streaming with a low speed usb connection, but my gut feel is that it would be a bottleneck.

Thanks, I just checked on the price of a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card and it was less than $15
