recycling enclosures

I have pair of polk R30 towers and a pair of R15 bookshelves - very entry level stuff. Now that I've learned of the existence of sites like madisound and partsexpress, I was wondering if I should consider buying some inexpensive vifas and switching them into the polk enclosures. Would it be worth the trouble? Do I need to replace the xovers as well? I was looking at these xovers on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/beta-xp-ten-INFINITY-Crossover-Beta-XP-Ten-BetaXP-Ten_W0QQitemZ5795902583QQcategoryZ79840QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Would they offer an improvement over the current xovers? Are they just totally for the wrong application?

Thanks for looking, and sorry for the totally vague and noobish questions.

Hi, the short answer is that it's fairly unlikely to work very well. If however you found a kit or a published design with drivers that fit the exact same holes then you could reuse the boxes, although you would still need to retune the ports.

I'd suggest thinking instead about something like Dennis Murphy's "plop in the box" (uses a PE box), the long term satisfaction will be a lot higher.

Hope this helps :)
