One wired, one wireless.

Wayne, I am banking on the hope that you can mod the SB3 adequately.  Put me down for one of your deluxe power supplies, and when you know you are able to perform the mods to the SB3, away she goes to CO!

I am only modding one (the wireless one will go into the video room), so I will be able to do an A/B comparison. Should be fun! I will be using a TriVista DAC, so it will be interesting to compare the modded SB3's DAC to the TriVista.

I am separately trying to investigate putting together a dedicated, fanless PC to act as the playback transport/storage device. I will use a separate system to burn. Here is where my head is at:

OS: Damn Small Linux (50 mb!!) OS  http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

Music Server Software: Softqueeze or Slimserver
http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_features.html
http://softsqueeze.sourceforge.net/

PC: Mini ITX system. Fanless, No hard drive; boots off a 1gb CF card:  (~$450)
http://damnsmalllinux.org/store/Mini_ITX_Systems/Damn_Small_Machine

-External USB hard drives  (~$250 per 300gb)

Anyone have thoughts on this setup? I am new to Linux.

I just ordered a black wireless SB3 to check it out. If it sounds as good as others say I will spend the extra cash to have it modded.

If not it will end up in my second system. For the price it is hard to go wrong :D
