Dipole Bass Systems with Exodus driver
« on: 31 Oct 2005, 05:30 pm »
I am planning two build Dipole Bass Systems which should improve on Avantgarde Duo horn present bass solution and work to 200 - 250Hz. Any hint which driver from the new Exodus range should be the best for the job?

Maybe two 15" EX per side with appropriate equalisation and 300W/ 4ohm amp will do? Anybody build high end sub with dipole and two or four drivers?

Regards,
Matt

The Exodus drivers have been slightly delayed due to some production issues.   We are now looking at a mid-November arrival time.

On to the question... for dipoles you need something that is has lots of pole vent and spacing under the spider.   The air noises from the driver under operation are audible when your running them free-air.   The EX & CX both are relatively small VCs and that limits the size of the pole vent.    Without doing some more testing I'm not going to recommend them for dipole use.    Something like the Tumult with it's larger 3" VC would be ideal.
