Jamie,

That would be very cool. Maybe we can get together sometime in the next few weeks. Bring your drive and I can copy over some of the music you have ripped that I own. I'll drop you an email later this week and we ll see if we can't find a time. I know MerRev was wanting to come over too before the Christmas gathering. Maybe we can do it on the same day.

Thanks!

I don't know if that statement was directed at my post but if you re-read it you'll see that I specifically typed I can copy over some of the music you have ripped that I own. If you read into that, I just said I'm not going to copy any ripped music that I personally havent' bought. I'f teh CD or the vinyl isn't currently in my collection, I'm not going to copy it to my hard drive.

I (for one) am extremely sensitive to stealing music. My kids have got iRivers and I've told them that they _ will not _ download music that they don't pay for. I don't mind giving them the money to buy tracks that they enjoy from a legitimate site that insures that the artists get their royalties.

If you read my reviews, I'm _ always _ touting going to see your favorite artists at your local concert venue. Why? That is where they make their real money (in most cases). What better way to insure that an artist continues to make music that we all enjoy than to give them money for their creativity. I knwo that why I work for a living. I sure wouldn't do what I do for free.

The next issue is the fact that I'm in the industry. How the heck would it look if I were to illegally copy music? I could just see me getting my fat arse drug to court by the RIAA. I'd end up being their next ad campain.

I knew somebody out there was going to misconstrue my statement as I was going to illegally copy music. I almost added a clarifying statement to that post but I didn't want to come off as a martyr. Maybe I should have.

Please, this wasn't flame, just a clarification of my previous post.

No...I deserved a flame.  You were too polite.  I was tired and didn't read your post properly, but that's no excuse.  Please accept my SINCERE apologies, Scott.

No worries, I didn't take any offense by your post. If you read posts like I do (generally skimming them for the highlights) you could easily miss what I typed.

No blood, no foul

Because I like to own Redbook CDs like a book collector wants to own books and because I have vintage computer stuff I don't pirate music.

But I laugh when I think of all the people who do in light of the music industry's "convictions" on anti trust and price fixing issues.

Most music companies don't pay most of the artists much, anyway. I don't know why they don't all self publish.
