I'm changing my Teres platter....
« on: 27 Oct 2005, 04:33 pm »
I just got off the phone with Chris and I'm hoping this time next week I will have a new cocobolo platter.

It should look similar to this one, except the wood grain will go vertically instead of horizontally on the side.

After listening to the differences in platters at the last MWAF I have wanted one.

I can hardly wait.  They are brutally expensive though

My old one looked like this one that Steve Deckert of Decware owns..

He says some pretty impressive things about the Teres, and who am I to argue?

I can't see too much of it, and I couldn't find any info on it at his site.

Do you have any info on it, or can you point me to a post?

Thanks

I just see what you see, but I got the gist of what I *think* he has done.

Thanks, it does look interesting.

My steel and marble nOrh rack does a great job with some oak board under the TT.

Here is a picture of it off the nOrh website.

Thanks..I keep thinking back to the demo in the Bolder room.."did someone turn the volume up" I asked..Nope, just the increased dynamics of the platter.

I wish I could afford his big(er) rigs, but I think I'll be very content with this for a long time.

Maybe if someone with a 300 series decides to trade theirs in for an even bigger one

I've had this table for the last 2.5 years and have really liked it.  I'm sure the next 2.5 will be even nicer

I know what you mean. I was over at Chris Brady's recently listening to his latest setup and man is it sweet. 'Course just the platter cost more than my whole table. :0

This is a funny post from about 2.5 years ago.

I finally got the one I wanted

I received the cocobolo platter today, but alas it did not have the speed control strip on it so I'll have to wait until next week to listen to it.

Well, that is a bit Pimpin' in style

I bet at $17000 it's not his #1 seller

Congats on the new platter, Rob!

I told you back when you bought it you should have gone for the Cocobolo platter

Now if Chris ever gets a Monkeywood platter in, I might have to upgrade.

Mike and I went up to Chris' right after RMAF and heard the new table and stand. It is visually quite a treat. Sonically, amazing.

We also got the chance to listen to his Cocobolo EdgarHorns.

He is planning to use that system next year at RMAF. Cocobolo madness!

I always liked the Edgarhorns, but I would need a bigger house if I ever wanted his subwoofer

Those are some purty cabinets.

I'm glad I did not listen to anything nicer than my new platter/table.

This stuff is pricey enough without getting tempted by his 300 series and higher gear.

It took me 2.5 years to upgrade the platter....I might never be satisfied if I heard that big sucker....

I want Chris's room!  Forget the rest (although his mono blocks are badass) if I had that room the things I would do.

Actually, Josh, Chris is expanding his listening room. He started and  ran Teres Audio out of the basement of his house for quite a few years. He has now moved Teres Audio to an industrial park close by.

He is going to expand his listening space by about four feet.
