I have been able to secure a very nice Etesian preamp at a reduced price. Just a couple more steps to music rollin in my house.

It looks nice, black with silver dials. Do these have any available upgrades?

I need a CD or Transport DAC and cables/wires/ics to be ready to listen.

Avalon I may be in a position to buy those speakers after all. I have found a trade for some old gear that I own. For some thiel cs 3.5 speakers.

If I sell the DCM Timeframe 400 and the thiels I could be Odyssey all the way around. And all under my original budget.

How sweet would that be.

The gear is in place. I have music.
WOW, it sounds good out of the Box.

I could not be happier. Now I can tweek this rig and find the right parts to finish it off.

I can't tell you how nice it is to be typing while listening to music.

I am taking a hard look the Alon Model IV speakers with a couple others.

I don't know if I am taking off on a voyage that Homer shared, or heading into space in 2001, but the Odyssey has begun.

What's special about a special edition Khartago? Differnt caps and/or ???

It has a cap upgrade to 120,000 uf, the piltron upgrade, and the WTB upgrade.

That is what my manual says.

The upgrade cost is $290 give or take, plus the cost of the amp. It is almost the same as the Stratos Plus, for a few less bucks. I wanted a stratos plus in the worst way, Klaus said that I should go this route at my budget. I love this thing.

I Plan on getting a Stratos at some point or may go with Khartago Monos.

They are very nice, and much better built than you would think. I like the fact that it takes up so little room.

Hey Andy, i absolutely loved my Khartago monos.the Khartago is a world class power amplifier they are built very similar to the Symphonic Line RG 11 power amplifier up to and including the internal heatsinks. i am considering building a two channel system for my ten year old daughter Courtney with Epiphony loudspeakers and a Khartago SE poweramplifier i own several preamplifiers but would prefer that she have an all Odyssey system. for synergys sake she will probably get an Odyssey preamplifier for her system as well. after all she is my baby girl! thanks....WCW III

It has been almost two months since I began this Odyssey into true High end audio. as I said in the initial post I have a job that can consume me at times. Finding a way to forget about the day is hard, but thanks to my new Odyssey gear I am able to take a vacation whenever I have a few spair moments. The best is when I have a hard time sleeping because of all the things I think of that need to be done the next day, I can go in Light a candle and slip away.
Some times I find myself at church in a worship cd. i have been transported all over the world this Holiday season as the trans Siberian Orcchestra has been making several trips to my house in the past few weeks. I have passed the 1/2- 3/4 burn in point and this baby is amazing. I still have hopes of moving to Monos or a Stratos extreems someday.

In the past month we have given gifts to 4000 children, feed over 5000 senior adults and children thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and witnessed as the meaning of Christmas changed for 3 young boys and their father.
This story like the music we love is very personal and I share it because many of us are so blessed that we ofter overlook the pain and struggles of others so near to us.

My Christmas story:

I work in a faith based non profit organization that works in Cleveland, Ohio. We wokr in many of the poorest areas in the State of Ohio and the country. Cleveland was the poorest big city in the U.S. last year and my neighborhoods are the poorest. The average income is between $4400- $8800 per year.
As part of our program we deliver trucks with up to 20,000 lbs of food to 9 area locations. At these stops volunteers bag and distribute the food. Each tuesday we eat lunch at a Burger King. It is a central location and we are able to pick up our workers for the day as it is on the main bus line. For the last year I have watched a man working his tail off cleaning the restraunt and doing whatever needed to be done.
I often said to myself some day I would love to give him a job that could get him out of this mess. This November I was able to offer him a part time job delivering the food three days a month.
This year I had a college dorm of guys call and ask if they could do Christmas for a family. So they raised $290.00 and my dad and i added some more.
We filled thier car with food, clothes, and toys. It was not much compared to what others are spending for Christmas, but that father lit up and began to share what Christmas was like when he was youg.

He was the youngest of 7 kids. When Christmas came they did not have much to go around so they each got one toy. That year he wanted a Mach 5 car from speed racer, but when Christmas came he was the only one of the 7 without a gift. He remembers watching out the front window for days hoping that Santa had just made a mistake.
After some time his mother explained that he was the only kid who had a differant father. And that his father had promissed to bring the car, but never showed.
You could tell that that had made a big impact on him. He thanked us many times for making this a Christmas to remember for his family. I feel that by showing love to his kids the father was able to recapture what this time of year is about. Think what would life be like if you could not do what you do for your family? How would that change how you saw the world around you.
As my father and I drove home we decided to get the Mach 5 speed racer car for the dad. I checked all the stores in the area and on the net to see if I could get one sent overnight, but to no avail. Today I emailed a guy near me to ask if he would end his ebay auction early and shared the stroy. He ended the auction send the toy and refused payement.

The chances are there for you to change forever the experience of people around you. There is no greater feeling then to see joy in a persons eyes and get the hug and thank you.

This father is now looking forward to Sunday morning because he will be able to give his sons something that he never had. Hope and joy from a fathers love at Christmas. To think a group of college guys could set off a chain of events like this. They will never know what this has been for this family and how it has encouraged me.

Thanks Odyssey, this season is crazy for me. You gave me a way to get away so I could experience the joy I have this past few weeks.

Just an update to my original post, in light of recent reports.

It has been 9 months and my Odyssey experince has only improved. I have moved to a new place and have had a chance to set up a dedicated room. My current rig is modest, but sounds so good that my audio buddies can't believe that I was able to assemble my rig on my meager pastor's budget. The truth is Klaus takes care of his people, before, during, and after the sale.

I have now moved up the Odyssey chain to fully upgraded monos in Khartago cases (less impressive than the ext stratos, but still blow your socks off.) The Monos run a pair of new Old stock Apogee Cenaur speakers. I still run a Etesian preamp, with a Pioneer DVP transport thru a nixon DAC. My cables and wires are all cheap (again on a budget), but my system sounds more pleasing than the four high end rigs that I have been able to listen to extensivly. Many of those were 5 times the money and more importantly, their owners still spend countless hours tweaking, buying and selling, and reading hours of internet and magazinwe articles about gear while I simply relax and listen to music.

Funny thing is that I got the promotion at my non profit org and could now spend a bit more money, but don't feel like I need to. I am very pleased with the level of musical bliss that I have achieved with the Odyssey gear.

One last thing as I close this out, as a testiment to his backing his products. I purchased my monos from a guy that needed to move them, they were sent to Klause for a check out a small issue they were having. Things were very busy at Odyssey, getting ready for the Candella and a show in canada. He sent me a new pair of amps so I could get my rig rolling again.
Anyone that know me knows that I am hard to part with my hard earned cash, and I have never had a question about my choice to purchase from Klaus. Rest assured I will send my friends and my own audio buiz to Klaus, a man who stands behind his products and works to take care of people.
