Well, it looks like I'll be the first one on a/c to go the iMod route instead of the SB route for my digital source. I was lucky enough to find a 60GB iPod Photo on closeout for $279, and yesterday it went out in the mail to Vinnie. I can't wait to get it back, I'll certainly post my impressions and compare it to my Vinnie-modded Nixon Dac.

Hi Gary,

I know you are going to be very pleasantly suprised!

60GB will fit over 120 CDs ripped using Apple Lossless, and the sound of the iMod is anything but "digital sounding."  Think tube-like warmth, without any noise.  I love that custom Wolfson dac in there!  It has very impressive synergy with the Clari-T too  8)

I've recently sold some iMod + Custom Clari-T combos.  I hope the owners will sign up and post their impressions on AC...

Happy Thanksgiving,

Vinnie

Hi duff138,

I believe Gary mentioned that he bought his at Best Buy on closeout.

If you search on google, you'll be able to find them cheaper than the $400 that I paid a few months ago

Vinnie's right, I got mine at Best Buy. Move quick though, if they've all dropped them to that price they won't be around for long (I know mine was the last one at the local store).

My 60 Gb iPod Photo is in the mail ($315 + shipping, but it looks like lacomputing.com is sold out now :(). I'm really looking forward to the iMod. I'll have an all-battery source and amp that I can hold in one hand: I could get some MiniMe Omegas and have a new car stereo :P.

Anticipation aside, I wanted to post in this thread for those with iMod interest because I just ran accross what looks like a really good deal on an iMod interconnect. I just ordered this from Signal Cable (http://signalcable.com/silvermini.html) for all of $69: 2 feet of 5 nines silver wire terminated with Eichmann TeCu Bullets and a Neutrik 1/8" plug. Nice. I will post on the sound down the road when the iMod enters the system. I'm using one of Vinnie's Toshiba 3960s with his interconnects at the moment, and it's quite good (but he says the iMod will be even better :)). Can't wait.
