good preamp for under $500

I am looking for a good preamp for under $500, used is ok.  I just want something that does not add to the music and is transparent.  4 inputs and 1 or 2 outputs would be great.

Any recommendations?

Spend a little more and make Tyson an offer on his AVA pre that he has for sale in the Trading Post for $699.00. It's a lot better than good... :wink:

the audio experince "syphonies", which is $400 brand new, is unbeatable ...at 3x that price.

its a tube pre.  and really awesome.
if you do a search of the agon discussion forums, you'll find hundreds of posts saying the same thing.

Get a used IRD Purist preamp.  I have seen it on Agon or AC for about $500.  
Sound is very good for this preamp..  Extremely quite.  It just let you hear anything come from the source.
