You bought the asp400?  Cool!!!  Please let me know what you think of it when you get it.  I'm very impressed with the designer of Athena having owned his previous speakers.  I think you will be very impressed.  But please let me know, good or bad.

Another big plus is it has a mosfet amp, instead of a cheap digital switching amp like other cheap subs.

Thanks!

Will do.  It should arrive by next week.  :)

Hey TheeeChosenOne, what's the verdict on this sub? Have you had the opportunity to try it out yet? How does it compare to the pricier musical subs... like the REL for instance?

Thanks,
Randog

Well,
It's too early to reach conslusive judgemnets as over 100 hours are needed to break this puppy in--that's according to Athena's manual.  I'm planning to write a better review when it gets broken-in.

But, thus far I like it A LOT!  :)

It's a *very musical sub* and can crank to levels that I will never use.  My room walls were shaking at only 1/2 gain and could hear the vibrations one floor up and into the carport area!

This thing has power to spare.......I'll have to put a "leash" on it, b/c my neighbors will complain any moment now--seriously!  :)

Construction is heavy.  The delivery person couldn't believe that a sub that small was so heavy--that's a sign of good construction.  The terminals, buttons and other doo-dads are all very good quality.  I keep the grille off b/c of the attractive grey finish.

The port is large and forcefully pushes a rather massive amount of air....in this regard, it's very effecient, very good design.  Other subs are anemic when analyzed up close.

I've listened to many subs, and musicality is a *difficult* thing to achieve--very difficult indeed!   This subs make a competent stand indeed.  :D

Wonder how it compares to the other Athena subs (that are actually designed for Athena monitors to be "docked" on top of the subs).
BTW, the ASP400 is pictured. The other subs are taller & skinnier.

You don't need to dock anything.  There is nothing--no pegs, etc where you can dock Athena speakers.  It's just a regular sub.

On the Low Frequency dial, there's Athena's speaker models listed so you can integrate seamlessly to the sub.   Very user friendly if you have Athena speakers.

I had given randog a heads up about this on another forum.
