I have a 7.1 system. My new set of front speakers that I built and HT3 that I bought have ignited a desire for good 2-channel. I don't have room for two separate systems. I also don't have a lot of money after the speakers and HT3. I'm wondering if I can save the cost of a preamp for now by getting a CD player with balanced outs and running them into the two channels of the HT3 that power my mains, while still having my receiver's preouts running into the RCA inputs of those same channels. (So I don't have to switch any cords when I want to switch between music out of my CD player and movies out of my receiver.) The CD player I'm looking at has an analog volume control.
