I was pretty disappointed in the review. Time was spent talking about how much press the original SI got, but there was hardly any comparison between the two. The people reading the review already know that the SI could stand up to some serious competition.

The challenge I was looking for was how it sounded compared to other lower priced digital options.

Pretty much my reaction as well. The interesting questions are where it sits in the value chain compared to the original SI, things like the Clari-T and maybe even the Teac although that one is becoming scarce. Just saying 'really good for the money' isn't all that helpful.

It does look pretty good, though. If for no other reason, I think that makes it a realistic option to use in a system, whereas the original SI with it's dinky connectors and jacks really isn't suited for much other than computer use in it's stock casing.

I agree with the above posts one hundered percent. How about a comparison to the evo, clari t, et al.

Even dumber when i got the six moons update today listing all the other digital designs out there. OK why not wait on the review and get a few more amps to at least comapre to.

Heck you could barely discern what the difference in the new v. orignal was other then the casing.

Hmmn some of you might get a portion of your wish...

Aaron Marshall of Audio Ideas Guide (a Canadian audio rag) is set to review the new SI amp also - I will also be lending him the Bolder modded Teac... so perhaps he will comment on how they face off.

Not sure when that will run, but when I catch wind of it, I will let y'all know!

i'm a bit dissappointed as well.  sounds like its the same SI t-amp but with RCA's, better speaker terminals,  and a dinky power supply.

Here's a review of four little t-amps (SI, Charlize, AMP3 and Autocostruire) on TNT for those wanting to compare:

I have been using the Autocostruire air core inductors and good input caps on the AMP3 with fine results.  Maybe it's time to tweak a Charlize...
