With the $9.99 Superbit sale now having been going for almost 2 months, I got to wondering if any of the rest of you have picked up a bunch. Or if you're even collecting SB discs.

I'd thought about collecting all of the SB titles (both the US & Japanese releases). But the lack of an income for me for quite some time has prevented such a thing.

Hell, if I did have any spare $ at all right now I'd certainly do the entire SB catalog at $10 a crack for the US discs.

I forget exactly how many I've got. But it's in the mid 20's I think...

Gotta admit that I'm a little shocked that there's a bunch of you guys that don't own any Superbit discs.

I'd have thought that the people on this forum would want SB discs at the very least for the better audio...

Is this sale still going on?  I stopped in there a couple weeks ago to get Spiderman 2 and it was like $22 or something... :(

Yeah, the sale is still going.

But they haven't changed the stickers on a lot of the covers. But they'll ring up at $9.99.

I'm in the 16-20 range.  I really wish there were more that I wanted.  In a better world, all DVDs would be the equivalent of SuperBits- at least until Blu-Ray takes over.

Rob...I believe there are 90 or so  dvhs tapes not counting soft porn or nature tapes ect.

I now have 42.....and will sell them all and the JVC 5u in the next couple of months.
This was just a way to experience hi def that was supposed to be available by now.
I have several of the tapes that sell for 70.00-100.00+ on Ebay that I only paid the normal high price for.

Some of these tapes go for 250.00-300.00 on Ebay :o

Take your breath away movies on dvhs so far are...Xmen 2, Ice Age,2 fast 2 furious,I robot, Man on Fire, Scorpion King,Passion of the Christ...but I have many more to watch still and there all clearly better than sd dvd with the possible exception of The Ring.

My SP1000 would be very expensive to replace  for audio even after hi res dvd finally gets here....so I probably won't be selling it anytime soon.
Not to mention theres no telling how good or bad the future hi res players will playback sd dvd.

I heard the special edition Batman Begins is a S/B title....any chance on getting that one for 9.99.?......if so...I may have to break away from dvhs for a night...next time I watch a movie :D

Batman Begins is a Warner Bothers movie. SB discs are Sony only (in the US, not always so in Japan). So no, it's not a SB disc here in the US...

Yep...read that post on another site wrong  ....it said to think of it as a SB special edition without the DTS.
I saw this in a regular and I max theaters so I should have known better than to think it was anything other than Warner.

Wal Mart online has the special edition under 16.00 online....and both versions are said to have a fantastic picture.

If not for this thread, I would not have known about Superbit CDs.

Superbit CDs for $9.99 at BestBuy is the best kept secret out there!  Lower cost, better picture!  Works for me.  Luckily I found about about the Oppo DVD at about the same time!   :D

The sale is STILL going on.  I went to Best Buy this weekend and picked up Spidey 2.  My tv won't even take advantage of my Progressive DVD player yet, so I'm not really getting the best from the dvd.     :?   But I love that DTS soundtrack.

All SB titles were still $9.99...

Just one Superbit region 2 DVD “Gattaca” (1997) there would be one title I’d like to buy and that is “Labyrinth” (1986).

One reason for buying old films is that I’m a bit crazy about the 70mm Dolby Stereo experience but according to this information.

"US 70mm release unconfirmed. Title is listed in the book “Wide Screen Movies.”  According to Lucasfilm, no 70mm prints were struck.  70mm presentation advertised in Dallas (at a theatre believed to be equipped for 35mm-only!)."

That’s doesn’t mean they didn’t cerate a six-track probably didn’t get around to doing a few dozen 70mm blow-up prints still this version would be better than the Dolby Stereo 4:2:4.
