This movie was so over the top, I had to marvel at it.  I mean, the main character literally dodges bullets and fights a squad of sword-wielding henchmen, and he suffers only one scratch on his forehead!

The first Transporter had Jason Statham behaving as a mortal man.  The best way to describe #2 is that he's a combination of James Bond and Jackie Chan in a universe that obeys the physics of Bugs Bunny.

There's prominent product placement for Apple, Audi, and Nokia.  And an iPod is used in a way that couldn't really happen.  But hey, it's a movie.

I liked the first movie because it had three things I like: martial arts, BMWs, and a hot damsel in distress.  The second one has only the former, but I liked it nonetheless just because of its bravado.  You don't need to suspend your disbelief because you're not believing it to begin with.

This movie has the nutritional equivalent of cotton candy.  But gosh darnit,  cotton candy tastes good!

jakepunk,

That was a snapply little synopsis you contrived.  I admire your style and thank you for your impressions.

Like you, I really enjoyed the original Transporter.   And recently, while attending the remake of "The Dukes of Hazard," (help me pleease) I saw the trailer for Transporter 2.  My immediate reation, like yours, was that it was way over the top.

But I like cotton candy as well, so I'll be sure and treat myself to a double scoop of the fluff at my earliest convenience.

Is there a doctor in the house?

It's amazing how much you can enjoy a brainless action flick when it makes NO attempt at all to be "real."  Make it louder, faster, completely over-the-top all the time, and they will come..

Hey Jon L, nice photo!  You're probably into a different genre of flick.

Well i thought the movie just sucked. I didnt mind the over the top stuff if they could have at least takin a stab at the animations. I have never seen a worse movie when it comes to animations, i mean not even the original war of the worlds was worse.

Hot babes tough and nice cars!

I am a Jason Statham fan from movies like Snatch, and other good ones he was in. When I saw the original transporter I thought it started out semi ok. There was a few quircks that made it just a little daunting toward the rest of the movie, that I could deal with. The thing is by the time all the action really started, most of it, in the first movie, was way to unrealistic for me. I know I ask a lot of a movie, that it be realistic, but I rather can not help it. When I watch a movie and know the characteristics of a car or gun, or any thing for that matter, and it is used in some impossible fashion, I hate it. I simply do not plan to watch the second, well, do not plan to pay money to see the second, ever.

I some what wish they choose som one else for the role, I hate seeing Jason in a poor movie. If he needed or wanted the money I suppose I understand; at least his name will get out to the "we love stupid action films" crowd.

It was laugh-out-loud absurd, but I think it was a good popcorn movie.  The laws of physics take a beating, that's for sure, but I loved it.
