Audioquest cables
« on: 7 Sep 2005, 03:12 am »
I was wondering if anyone has experience with Audioquest cables. I have a chance to buy the type 6...? i'm not sure if they are type 6 but lets assume they are and they are biwirable.
I have the B&W 804S with the Rotel RB-1080 amp and want to see if i cant enhance the bass
What are some other suggestions.

Thanks
k.

If you want other suggestions, I would recommend Gregg Straley's Reality Cables.

His website is pretty bare, he is just getting going.

It's funny, the more i ask around the more cable manufactures i find. I don't think i've ever had 2 people refer to the same cable. :?

How much are cables worth to you?
$0.50 / ft
5$ / ft
10$ / ft
$100 / ft
?

I wondering what the average guy spends on cables....

The average guy buys at Radio Shack, and cables are included. Nobody here is remotely average.

For speaker cable I paid ~$3.60/ft, and that was more than I needed to, but I decided I wanted silver coating to reduce the risk of corrosion, since I expect to keep this setup for years. For interconnects, I paid list price at Blue Jeans cable.

IC's and Speaker Cables are a personal preference thing and a system dependent thing.  What sounds good in one system will not necessarily sound good in another.   What you need to do is audition cables in your own system to find what YOU like.  Companies like The Cable Company (www.fatwyre.com) offers cables to try out or demo at home to see what you like without having to purchase, find out you hate them, and have them sit in a drawer for years.

Audioquest makes some nice cables but there are many other companies out there that you will hear about - as you have.  The $75 - 1 Meter Audioquest Copperhead (the Copperhead is a nice performance to cost ratio - again you may hear different ideas from others) Audioqust also makes cables up to unreal prices....Thousands...

If you want enhanced bass for your system, consider adding in a good sub.
