How much space is saved by ripping something to apple lossless vs. keeping the original uncompressed .wav?

As I recall, Apple claimed approximately 50% space savings.

Actually, it's more like 3:2. So three CDs = 1GB in lossless rather than two CDs = 1GB in wav.
You can only get a 2:1 compression with two mono tracks, in theory.

I'm saving 30-40% on space using Apple Lossless.
It varies based on the CD
