Hiya Guys,

I know there are a few of us woodworkers here on AC so I thought I'd share a nifty little tool I've found.

As we all know, you can never have enough clamps. Toughest part of working with a standard beam or pipe clamp is you either need three hands or two clamps to get the main clamp attached (the second clamp holds the block of wood that goes between the clamp and your finished piece of lumber so your second hand is free to hold the other block of wood and tighten your beam clamp).

Anyway, I finally ran out of CD storage space and decided to build myself a new CD tower. Nothing too special, it's plain old clear white pine with lots of shelves (believe it or not, this still isn't enough shelf space).

As you can see, I ran myself out of 30" beam clamps pretty quick so I decided to use these new Wolfcraft Ratcheting Band Clamps I found. I originally bought them to use on putting tobgether my cases for my Wellborne DRD's (you should have seen the DRDs with six beam clamps on them).

These ratchet clamps are about twice the cost of a 30" beam clamp, but at $29 that isn't too bad if you do a fair amount of woodworking. They have corner protectors so you don't damage the wood. The ratchet action takes up about 1/8" at a time (or so). The strap is nylon and the quick release has an auto rewind action (like a lawnmower). These are very easy to use and best part is you can do it with just one hand.

Oh, I bought mine from these guys without incident.

Just thought I'd share for the hardcore DIYer
