Usings EAC to rip FLAC files... make the beeping stop!

I'm using EAC to make FLAC files of many of my CDs.  I'm following the EAC setup recommeded through a link I found here at AC:

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=20862

When EAC is copying / ripping it beeps (through the PC speaker) everytime it finishes w/ a file.  Is there anyway to make this stop.  Its pretty obnoxious.

Thanks,
Jon

Funny, I followed all instructions, even downloaded and uploaded a working profile to the EAC, yet the automated FLAC is still not working.

Now that I've set up EAC as outlined above, what button do I push to burn a CD to my hard drive (in flac format)?

The setup instructions on that linke were the best I've found so far.  I do have my FLAC  creation process running pretty well now.  One thing that confused me a little in those instructions were where you tell EAC that you want to "Use external program for compression" (under the Compression options menu).  Here's what I have:

in the "Additional command line options:" line I have:

-6 -V -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" -T comment="%e" -T "comment=EAC (Secure Mode)" %s

Maybe that'll help...?

Thanks guys. I've actually sent about 200 CD's to Tim for ripping but I need to understand the process as well.  I've completely set up EAC as directed, what I want to know is what button on the EAC front end do I actually press to rip a CD.

Edit -> Select all

Does this help?

Hey, I'm just glad to hear that I'm not the only guy that found the process a little confusing!  To answer your question...  (with a little back-tracking)

- Open EAC
- Put a disk in your CD/DVD drive
- EAC will show you a list of the tracks
- do an Alt-G and (if you put in your e-mail address under EAC | freedb / Database options... | menu) it will look up the CD you put in and fill in all the track names and CD Title and what not.
- Then do a shift-F5 and it'll start to read your music to .WAV files then convert the to .FLAC's (it may ask you where to put the files depending on what you put in the EAC | EAC options | menu under the Directories tab.

good luck!

I just received about 300+ from Carlman today, so when yours arrive it may take me a day or 2 to get started on them.

Figure at 5min per CD X 300 CDs = 1500 mins = 24 Hours +

Tim,

Do you run multiple cd drives at once?

This weekend I will be upgrading to a Plextor Premium and Lite-On drive in order to get my rip time down.

Yeah George, I have 2 Plextor Premiums on 2 PC's. I really think your speed problem is your CD drive, but until you replace it we wont know for sure. Call me back anytime if you need some help.

Damn, Carlman's got there ahead of mine! Oh well, I can wait. I only sent you half my collection so I have plenty of music to keep me occupied in the meanwhile.  8)
Hopefully we have many of the same albums and you can just burn saved copies of his CD's without having to re-rip.

I'm thinking of buying Music Label 2005/Movie Label 2006 to organize my media. Does anyone have any experience with these (or other) programs?

Save your $$

I encode the files as I rip them, so they have tag info already. I then download the cover art using Album Cover Art Downloader. For anything else that I need done you can use Tag&Rename.

Most people just use the free version of Media Monkey to d/l covert art and sort their music.

I think the Shift-F5 does it.

Thanks a lot!

That's it!  Now that I am able to automate the making of WAV/FLAC files, I listened to both formats and decided to stick with the uncompressed WAV files.  The differences are subtle but enough for me to put up with the relatively large size of the WAV format.  Thank God an external 300GB HD won't cost more than Cardas or Zu Mobius headphone replacement cables.  Or a pair of NOS tubes.

I know what you guys mean, about ripping to FLAC, what a
PITA.

It took me a while to get it all set up, EAC/AccurateRip/FLAC
(hope it's all right).

How do you guys have your FLAC files setup for SB2 (don't have mine yet).

Pete
