Triangle Celius?
« on: 30 Aug 2005, 06:06 am »
Has anyone heard the Celius' by Triangle?  Yeah, I know Stereophile rates them "A" based on the ravings of Sam "I-never-heard-a-peice-I-didn't-love" Tellig, but what's that really worth?  I see they turn up with some regularity on A-gon, and at pretty attractive prices, too.  I was thinking they might be nice in my bedroom rig, mated up with my new Onix tube amp.  That or some Meadowlark Kestral 2's...

Are you sure that's the Celius?  It looks like the model above them...

At any rate, it would be in my bedroom for a while, but probably eventually it would be moved to a small to medium-ish 2CH room.  I'm just not a fan of bookshelfs, sadly.

As widely acclaimed as they are, you'd think some AC'ers would have some input. :o

Apparently that's a new version of the Celius.  It probably also explains the glut of Celius 202's on the 'Gon lately.

    Rob,

I heard them at a show a few years ago run by Cairn electronics.  They were extremely quick sounding, but slightly thin IMO.  Perhaps a tube amp would add some needed body to these speakers.  I thought they were pretty good for their price, but not great like Sam's ravings.  BTW, they were big speakers.

I'll second Michael's opinion; fast but without great body.  The speakers also vibrate.  I remember putting my hand on the cabinets only to feel a vibration.  Triangle claims this is an intentional design to let the sound escape quickly; whatever that means :?:   My personal opinion is you can do better reagrdless of Mr. Tellig's bloviations on Triangle.
