Epiphony mini monitors

i just bought a pair of black ash Epiphony loudspeakers from Klaus and they were delivered to my house friday afternoon and have been playing ever since. the sound has opened up quite a bit since they were first hooked up.these little things image like the dickens and i have them on a pair of black steel  24" Parts Express stands with spikes. they feel heavy for thier size and are very handsome with the sloped front baffle and well made   metal binding posts.they are starting to sound really good but they need more run in time before i will do any critical listening. i am still always amazed that Klaus can sell this stuff for the price point that he does. i will post more about the sound after i am sure they are done running in......thanks

Good for you, bunky!
At risk for being an eternal cheerleader for those speakers, I am always compelled to give folks an 'attaboy' when they take the plunge with them.
I might even have mine on the same stands as you, that I bought a couple of years ago from same place.  Eventually filled them with aquarium gravel, having an excess of it.
Incredible sound from a great bargain.
Happy listening!

Hey DeadFish  i bought a bag of high dessert sand from home depot but it is still damp so the stands are still hollow but i might just fill them with nonshrinking grout. i have to admit that i like the Seas tweeter in the Epiphany better than the  Paradigm studio reference 100 v3 tweeter and the Tangband  midwoofers a really nice driver also but i will wait a few days at least to do any critical listening or before i comment too much on these cool little speakers.thanks

hi oakleaf, i used a tape measure and checked the distance from the floor to the center of my ear canal while seated comfortably in my listening chair. then i measured from the bottom of the speaker to the center of the tweeter and subtracted this measurement from the floor to ear distance.  24" stands were perfect in my case and adjustable spikes can allow you to fine tune this but results may vary depending on the height of your listening chair.

What is this measurement?  (Don't have them yet.)  I'm thinking 30" stands.  I must sit up a bit higher than you!

subtract 10" from your floor to ear while seated measurement and this will give you the proper stand height. i ordered my stands before i received the Epiphonys and i approximated the measurement by looking at photos and knowing the overall measurement by looking at the specifications. 24" stands are ideal in my application.

I recently purchased a bag of sand to fill my stands.  When I got the bag home and opened it up, it was full of wet sand.   I ended up pouring the sand out on some larger square pieces of plywood and set them in my driveway.  I periodically raked through the sand to circulate it, but it still took about 3 days at 80 degree weater with sun to properly dry it out.  Last evening, I added the sand to the stands.  Man, did that weigh them down and finally make them stable.  Well worth the wait to allow the sand to dry.
