Cayin A88-T or TI-88
« on: 23 Aug 2005, 08:34 pm »
I just came from a vacation in Europe where I had the chance to listen to a Cayin TI-88 (the same with A88-T).

The dealer was very nice (in Munich) and we stayed for  about 4 hours keep trying different speakers with it.

I have to say that this amplifier is nothing short of incredible. http://www.cayin.de/amps_de/vollverstarker/a-88t/a-88t.htm

I didn't listened yet to a piece of electronic so versatile and clean for as little money. The guy was selling this for what will be about $1300 USD.

When I came home I decided to get one of this here in Canada.

I was able to find a dealer in Ottawa, but the guy is asking $2700!!! for it.

I found a web-dealer in NY http://www.nysound.com/exec/servlet/CategoryServlet?action=productdetail&itemID=cyn-2026-01001

but the guy has only the 220V/50hz version of it.

Now, to your knowledge, there is any other reasonable priced Cayin dealer in North America?

If you had the chance to listen to a Cayin A88-T, what other integrated/amplifiers can I consider that are in your opinion at least as good as this one?

Thank you

JoshK

$1995.00 listed.  I'd suggest talking to him.

This version is built especially for HIT Audio.  It's a hot rodded version and the price reflects that.  I have the HIT/Cayin CD-22 which is the hot rodded version of the CDT-15A.  Unbelievably good sounding CD player for the money.

I believe that these folks have become the Canadian distributor for Cayin, they also sell retail.  Give them a call.

It sounds like you could get a good price in Munich.

I have bought online from Cattylink before. They seem to have your model as well but indicate only a 220V version. I would suggest enquiring by mail if they do 110V as well. I believe they would do that.

Catty is here:

Not sure if this would work for you as it is still shipping and then Europe may be easier than HK.

Good luck!

Recently, I (we) have compared in the same room, a Cayin AT-88 with my Jolida 302B (upgraded as suggested by Dave Ellis).

Both amplifier were connected to a pair of Ellis 1801. I do not want to deserve any product, but in this situation, the Jolida was much more pleasant to ear (smoother, more detailled, less agressive, etc.)
The owner of the Cayin was at home to listen to, and buy a pair of Ellis. As a consequence, he is now selling his Cayin...

This was my 2ct.
