Hi,

All the orders and tracking numbers have been shipped and notified.  Please use this thread to ask questions regarding building of the amp, and please share any "tweak" tips that you have implemented.

I'll be away for a week, Steve is travling some next week also, but he will try to keep an eye on this thread for technical support.

I received my amp today, I hope there's a few patient souls out there cause this is my first attempt at a build. I knew I would have some questions about  hookup, didn't know there would be so many for just mounting all the parts.
1. Transformer, just drill a hole and bolt it down?
2.  Modules and power supply, same thing,  and how do you keep the circut board off the chassis?
3. I've seen photos where the modules are mounted sideways, is this necesary for a two channel amp?
4.  Layout,  Whats the best way to organize to give the best results? I also have a DIY cable RFI/DC filter I want to add.
Thanks, I'm sure I'll have more Q's when I start wiring.

i recommend buying a crimping tool for the faston connectors, to elevate the amp module and power supply from the case you need metal standoff and screws. the case will end up having a lot of free space for 2 channels but try to shorten as much as possible the power cables (+/-/GND) that connects the HG power supply and amp modules, you can also screw the heatsink directly to the back side or bottom of the case.

for the IEC power connector/switch/fuse holder you'll need to use a multimeter to check/verify the wiring (it doesn't come with a fuse 250V ~6A, you need to buy one), also you can buy some extra faston connectors so you can use them to hook up the wires instead of sodering them.

you can also use heatshrink tubing for the RCA input connectors after sodering them.

mine is working now enjoying it ;)

good luck,

angelo

i got my amp hooked up and running but the molex connector for one chanel is totally skrewed up the wires are barely in the plastic housing causing it to get a bad connection i had to fasten it down in one position with some electrical tape to get it to stay on also i am getting a 60 hz hum should i try to reposition the modules and ps in relation to the tranny  or could this hum be due to the bad connection as well? thanx in advance
Cheers, Carlos

Hi Carlos,

I'll send you another wire connector tomorrow.  Ususally, this setup is dead quiet, please wait for the connector before you turn it on again.

what are the best faston connectors to use for the ucd amps? the orange ones that came in the kit seem to work the best you got a part # for those Ken?
