Single wire hookup to bi-wire post options
« on: 17 Aug 2005, 08:25 pm »
i thought it would be better to post this question in a cable manufacturer circle than out in the open. here are some single cable to bi-wire posts options that i have run across and would like to get your impressions on the sonic benefits of each.
1)  cable attached to the upper posts.
2)  cables attached to the lower posts.
3)  keep the two neg. posts shorted and cables attached to the upper or lower posts.
4)  attach the pos. cable to the upper post and the neg. cable to the lower post (diagonally)

thanks,
marvin

What speakers are you talking about? Where is the woofer wired, top post or bottom post?

First I am not a big fan of Bi-wiring. I really do not think it makes that big a difference.

Bi-amping will make a far larger change.

If you do decide to try bi-wiring, I would suggest you keep the cables for the high end and low end as far away from each other as possible. Whatever advantages may happen when you bi-wire will be somewhat negated by having the wires physically close. The magnetic fields from the cables will affect each other.

I would suggest you keep the main input cable on the woofer leads for maximum current transfer and run a jumper to the tweeter leads. I personally have found great benefit to adding a Bybee Purifier between the woofer + post and the tweeter + post. You may not find this to be true.
