Love some of the lines in this flick.

Unfortunately I haven't yet. Currently no available funds for such a thing.

I am curious about it though. But It'll just have to wait even though it's a great movie.

Besides, I can watch it on better than DVD or HD quality just about anytime I'd like. So I'm not in a huge rush to try to pick up a copy...

I just got the DVD a day or two ago, but I haven't had time to watch it.  I pretty much have the opposite problem as Bubba- I've been working 75 hours per (six day) week lately.  That doesn't leave a lotta time for movies, nor eating, sleeping or anything else.  The main order of business for today?  Getting a haircut!

Since we're closed on Sundays, I probably will get the disc watched tonite. 8)

What is better than HD quality?  Do you have a film print or something?

Wow!

I knew a guy who had a film projector and prints of Snow White and Raiders of the Lost Ark.  He owned a video store and had that stuff in the back room.  I don't think he ever got to set it up in a home theater and use it, but he and some friends did go to the local cinema late one night and watch the films.

I don't have the $ nor the space to run film. But I do know people that don't have either problem.

I wouldn't mind running film as done right it's extremely nice. And I do know how to setup & run film quite well now as I've built a very nice film setup recently.

Unfortunately knowing what I know about film & the hardware makes it damn near impossible to enjoy movies in commercial theaters.

So after seeing Sin City on film in SDDS w/excellent lens/lamp/etc. I know how great it can look. And I am quite interested to see how close the DVD gets to that experience...

Let us know.

I recently got a D-VHS deck and I've been archiving HD movies from HBO, HDNet, etc.  It makes it hard to go back to DVD...

Sin City is mostly black and white, so I would guess that makes the quality easier to transfer, right?

Don't think there's much to transfer as it was shot on Sony HD video cameras.

But being mostly black & white the video information shouldn't take up as much room. So a higer bitrate on the video should be easier to pull off.

Probably so....but RR is showing the man who gave him his first HD camera how to properly use one
Or to put it another way AOTC is not a reference transfer imo.

It can't be downplayed in any way imo...its just the most flawless dvd transer in exsistence...and not by a small margin.

Its also got the best comic book look...ever transfered to film.

When I brought this dvd home....the other so called reference transfers were all shaking in there boots for good reason.
I thought I heard a wimper out of Undeworld SB....and Riddick wet his pants or something.....and this was all before the razor wire and tubing had gotten broken out.

MAN YOU GUYS IN THE U.S are lucky!!!

 - I think they are still showing Sin City at the cinema right now in Australia - it will be months before we get it on DVD.

Even though I found the movie dissapointing (too much story in so little space of time, too much narration......) I am dying to watch it on DVD (just to see the special features)
