I have one 500mA charger that keeps them at 13.2VDC when charged. I have a 1000mA charger that keeps them at over 14VDC! The instructions say they should keep them at 13.8VDC. Maybe it's a quality control problem??

Im sorry tvee I meant my T-amp has hit 12v from a full capacity of 13.2v. I think its starting to sound weak (it could just be the recording). Should I recharge it now or should I wait for until it hits a lower voltage.

Hi Bundee,

Always keep SLA's charged up as much as possible. The more you run them down, the shorter their life span, so just make a habit of recharging after every use, no matter how short your listen sessions may be!

Enjoy!

Really? I listen on average at least 30 mins to 1 hour everyday. I have to charge it everyday? I thought there was a minimum voltage I needed to maintain. It took 2 weeks to go from 13v to 12v.

You certainly don't have to re-charge every day if that's your drain rate, but charging up at every convenient chance will greatly extend longevity.  I'd try for at least every 2-3 days at your rate :D

Gordy is correct.  SLA batteries prefer to be in the fully charged state at all times.  Even if you play for just 20 minutes, it is best to switch over to charge (if you have a switch) when not in use.  If your charger is an automatic charger, it will maintain the batteries (trickle charge) in the fully charged state once charging is finished, which is an SLA battery's favorite state.

For a 12V SLA, I do not recommend you discharge below 12V...it certainly will reduce the total number of charge/discharge cycles of the battery.
