you can get a bat 3vki for $900 -  $1200 with remote or a vk-30 (better unit imho) for $1400 - $1800 depending on condition, remote, and phono stage...

If I would have this money to spend for a preaamp they I will get a used Modwright SWL 9.0 SE or new Eastern Electric MiniMax.

You should also consider a used Supratek Chardonnay or Sonic Euphoria PLC if you can find any.
