Vandersteen 1c Identification

Is it possible to tell if a speaker is Vandersteen Model 1, 1b, or 1c from just looking at the exterior? It seems that the stickers at the back for all models simply refer to them as Model 1. Tried Google but nothing come back.

Articus,

Mine had a serial number on the back, followed by a 'c'.  I always assumed that's because it was a Vandy 1c.

Seems to me they run those serial numbers in sequence, Vandersteen could probably tell you by serial number alone, whether it is a c, b or original model 1. Give 'em a buzz if need be.

Thanks TheChairGuy, that certainly lighted the bulb above my head

Does anyone know the start serial number of Model 1c? Or did they start from zero and just append letter "c"?

I have an old pair of 2Ci's and to hazard a guess, they just append the letter to the end. The 2C's have the "i" stamped into the plate and not printed like the 2C part. I realize these are not 1's but I'm guessing the nomenclature is the same.
