Has anyone had any experience with Audio Mirror T-61 preamp, I’m interested in a all tube
pre w/remote and for the price it’s very tempting and it looks good to.

Hi Pete,

It looks every bit as good in person, IMO.  I've only about 3-4 days experience with it, but chassis build quality is excellent.  The body itself has a warranty voiding seal :x  so I wasn't able to look inside the unit. So far it has mated very well with my UcD amps, obviously still breaking in, but only a Mod Wright SE and my Django TX-102 tranny pre stand out as being tonally superior!  The MW at 3X the cost and the Django is a stepped attenuator (PITA) and manual

One minor irritant for me is the selector indicator lights, which are overly bright (IMO) and flash while in auto mute when switching inputs.  Vlad didn't have the least objection to toning down the brightness level for me!  It's been returned  to have that mod done...

The shipping box/container is adequate I suppose, but not up to the better ones I've seen.  This leads me up the one issue I had, presumably during shipment a motor drive ground(?) was loosened and resulted in the drive being discernable in the right channel when vol. was adjusted.  Not so much when playing music, but quite noticable when switching inputs or at power up when vol. resets to a pre-detemined low level.  I really think this a fluke, but felt I had to mention it for honesty's sake!  Other than the right channel, it was/is silent in operation.

I was given a 5 day trial when I asked for a 'grace period'...  but it's a keeper so far!  PM me if you'd like any clarifications etc!!!

I'm sure you've thought of this Pete, but don't forget to ask him about DC offset. I still remember my preamp shutting down your Sim Audio amp. :(

BTW, I really want to hear your new timepieces's someday. :thumb:

Hi Mike,

My UcD's are dc coupled, removed the input caps, the T-61 gave them no problems.    Of course it still won't hurt to ask!

Absolutely, my W-5 is very finicky with DC offset.

Mike, as soon as the Continuums get a few more hours on them
I would love for you guys to come by.

Hi Pete, do you still have the T-61?  This preamp drew my interest from another thread.  Anyone else have experience with this preamp?

Thanks

I used to own one. A nice little pre-amp, the only issues being that the volume control with the remote is a little sensitive and the light for the input selector is way too bright.

I am currently using a Mapletree Ultra 4SE, but I will soon be eliminating the pre-amp altogether.
