Gentlemen,

For about the past 5 years, the speaker builders from the Madisound discussion page have organized small gatherings in the fall. This post is the initial post for the Chicago area gathering.

Paul H. is darn busy, and I'll be organizing the Chicago event this year. If you are interested in the plethora of organizational email messages or wish to contribute, please send me your email address and I'll add it to my mailing list. If you have some good ideas for the event - I am all ears.

Thus far the plan is for a slightly different format than in other years.

1. The event will be held in a 2-room suite based hotel.

2. There will be 1 larger space for formal judging.

3. The formal judging will be spread throughout the day in 3 time-windows

4. All folks will be VERY welcome to setup their hifi system in their suite room for others to hear.  I'd actually really like to hear some good SET Horn based stuff.

5.  Covering the cost of the conference room will require a $10 fee for all visitors.

The setup will be VERY similar to the CES hifi venue - without the $3500 entry fee for each room.   The only fee for each room will be the cost for the room.

My next order of business is... what hotel?? I hope to have the choices narrowed to 3 hotels, then cast them to an email vote next weekend.

The time is drawing near.  Looking forward to the event, meeting some ACers and hearing systems talked about on the circles.

Anyone planning on attending?

I know Jim and all are busy but it would be nice to get an updated exhibitor list.

Is Saturday night the last night or will things be going on Sunday?
Looks like there will be a lot of magnesiun around there.  Talk about a house sound   heh, heh.

I will be there.  does anyone have any thoughts about a AC get together?  I live close by, and could host an after event gathering if there is interest.

I plan on being there Saturday, but I have no idea what to expect.
I appreciate the efforts the organizers have made to create an event that attempt to bring us together.
I hope to see a good crowd and some interesting rooms.
I hope it is successful.

Who is coming?

Hi dad (Jackman)!

Response Audio will also be debuting the new Bella SP/AV-1 loudspeaker at the show. It will be found with Joe from Jam'n Audio.
The speaker will be in unfinished, RAW MDF form as well as prototype external crossover enclosures.
Just look for Joe Jurzec and all the SP Technology speakers.

To follow up on my last post, I will have to work throughout the weekend to get even the prototypes ready to display.
If I am unable to get these ready to ship by Monday morning, we will just have to wait till the next show comes around. Maybe the following Chicago Society meeting in November?
I have three children all playing different sports this weekend with me being the coach for the twins football team with a double header on Sunday.
Wish me luck, I'll do my best to get them ready!

Yep,

I undertand the situation Bill.  Certainly kids slow logical progress on any progress significantly.  And... I love my kids too.  I think your priorities are correct.

It definitely is shaping up to be a worthwhile event. First rate exhibitors and first rate components. I'm familiar with a number of the products, and they represent some of the very best in the high-end at very low price points.  I'll have to get there early. I hope the turnout is good. At the same time it looks like the crowd will be small enough that there will be plenty of opportunity to spend quality time with each exhibitor.

I am optomistic too.

I really don't know how many folks will be present, but I really look forward to swapping components between rooms (purveyor's permitting), and doing some serious evaluations.

In past years there has only been 1 room, and this is very limiting.  In this setup there really isn't time to swap components as some folks (including me) would like.

This year, I really look forward to swapping some source gear - especially some of the stuff from Scott Quick.  Scott is a brilliant guy who performs some very solid mods.  I have a hunch his gear will be very competitive.

Two questions

1)  What is going on Friday?  Will there be rooms set up for listening or will the real stuff start on Sat?

2)  Anything going on Sunday?

Thanks,

There will be little/nothing Sunday morning.

Saturday IS the primary day for the event.

Friday evening the source gear selection and music selection will happen for the DIY speaker competition on Saturday.
