Thanks Josh,

Howard has a response already!!  Wow!!  That was quick!!

Howard, thanks for posting here, appreciated.  This is 1 great community!

I'm willing to build up the modules (if Howard wants me too, of course) and so he'd need someone for the case and interconnections.  Not too difficult, maybe around 10 hours.

Any more takers?

Cheers,

Hugh

Obviously it is better to have the case, etc built in the country of residence... If you are Aussie and you want a case in aluminium-lined wood, I am happy to do oblige... otherwise, there are many others who I am sure will volunteer.

Howard,
If you are located somewhere in North America, I can do the metal work and assembly (assuming that you accept Hugh's offer to build up the amp boards).  I've built three 55Ns, one of them N+ and a couple of 100s.

I usually use standard Par-Metal cases.  All of my amps have been quiet (no hum or noise) and definitely make sweet music.  My work is electrically and mechanically solid and is extremely presentable from a foot or two away.  I have reasonably good hand tools and will work hard to do a good job for you, but I am not by any stretch an artisan metalworker.

I travel a lot, and my job is demanding... so promising a completion date is difficult.  Honestly, I really would rather someone else step forward, but if that doesn't happen, I will be happy to build you a very nice amp.  We are talking about power amps, yes?  I do not have the time to tackle a GK-1R (it took me most of a year to plan and build mine!).

take care,
Peter

Well, I don't think it's a lack of people offering... 4 people from all over the world have stepped up so far.... but no response from HBurns...

I'm in a similar position to you, Peter... work and scheduling would get in the way of providing a firm completion date.  (Not to mention waiting for transformers or other parts)  I'm not in a good position to offer to build anything at this time but maybe this winter I would be.

This is a good thread to keep constructors' names centrally located, though. :)

My thanks go out to Marcus Aurelius, Felipe, Peter and Carl - all good and christian men!!  Howard will doubtless come back to us;  I have emailed him privately as well, and hopefully he will take up one of the offers.

I understand, though I'm not sure, that he's in the US.

Agree, Carl, this is a terrific thread to notify prospectives of our constructor pool!   And how's that Avalon going?  Do you know, in Australia's hottest tropical city, Darwin, the Avalon is the almost universal choice for taxis - they are the only vehicle which stand up to the climatic extremes and they are a delight to drive, with a superb engine which is recognised in the industry as probably the smoothest V6 currently in the market.

Cheers,

Hugh

Oh man... I ended up with a BMW 3-series... :)  I have not regretted that choice one bit... It was a pretty big adventure... I flew to Boston, drove through NYC, met the NY Audio gang, stopped in Wash,DC to see family, and then back to my home in NC.  There's even a picture of me stopping by here.
